THE 14TH ANNUAL COLORADO SPRINGS OKTOBERFEST DACHSHUND DASH
Ready, set… WIENER!
The Colorado Springs OktoberFest Dachshund Dash returns for its 14th annual running of the wieners! Join us Saturday and Sunday for short legs, big personalities, questionable attention spans, and some of the most delightfully unpredictable racing you’ll ever witness.
RACE DATES & TIMES
Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM
Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM
PAWTICIPANT CHECK-IN
Pawticipant Teams should check in at the Ticket Booth Tuff Shed by 1:30 PM on their selected race day.
Each Pawticipant Team includes:
- One four-legged racer
- One human to release the racer at the starting line
- One human to catch, encourage, or bribe the racer at the finish line
REGISTRATION
Registration is $15 per team and reserves one spot in the selected category on the selected race day.
Saturday and Sunday are separate competitions. Teams wishing to race both days must register separately for each day.
Space is limited to 16 racers in each category, each day. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.
HOW THE DASH WORKS
Racers compete in preliminary heats within their registered category. The winner of each heat advances to that category’s final race.
Each category crowns one daily champion—and that victorious wiener takes home a trophy and a lifetime supply of bragging rights!
RACING CATEGORIES
Mini Frankfurters — 11 Pounds and Under
For purebred dachshunds weighing 11 pounds or less, regardless of age.
The Mischmasch Dash
For low-riding dachshund mixes with that unmistakable doxie silhouette and a little something extra.
Fast Frankfurters — Ages 1–3
For purebred dachshunds weighing more than 11 pounds and between 1 and 3 years old.
Wild Wieners — Ages 4–7
For purebred dachshunds weighing more than 11 pounds and between 4 and 7 years old.
Galloping “Gray”Hounds — Ages 8 and Older
For purebred dachshunds weighing more than 11 pounds and age 8 or older.
IMPORTANT PAWTICIPANT INFORMATION
Dogs must remain leashed and under the control of their Pawticipant Team outside the designated racing area. Please register only dogs that are healthy enough to race, comfortable around crowds and other dogs, and able to participate safely.
Event staff may refuse or discontinue participation if a dog displays aggressive behavior, appears distressed, or presents a safety concern.
Costumes are enthusiastically encouraged—but they must be safe, comfortable, and removed before racing if they could restrict the dog’s movement.
